Yuen Long Barrage Scheme

Located along the Yuen Long Nullah, the Yuen Long Barrage Scheme is implemented to relieve flood risks within the area, with structures including a pumping station, a barrage and Main Control Centre. Taking on the challenge of acting as a physical linkage between the nearby industrial area and the environmentally sensitive Nam Sang Wai wetlands, smooth integration will be achieved through the promotion of both serviceability and leisurely public enjoyment on site. In the view of the environmentally sensitivity and difficult geotechnical profile of Schedule 2 area of the Site, the Main Control Centre will be camouflaged into the thick blanket of lawn with extensive green roofing as viewing patios towards the wetlands. Together with public piazza at street level and a broadwalk connecting the riverfront, allowing better connectivity and accessibility between north and south, east and west of the Yuen Long River.
